可持续性 is the ability to meet the current human need for natural resources without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. 可持续性 issues fall into three main categories: environmental, social, and economic. 下面 is a list of some of the issues covered in each category.

Environmental topics: air, water, and land resource use, climate change, food/agriculture, energy, waste, over consumption, pollution, conservation, species loss
Social topics: population, social equity, livability, health equity, community development, education, social justice, food security

可持续性 courses come from a variety of departments, including Anthropology, English, Sociology, Economics, Environmental Science, and Biology. 参与 faculty members are committed to giving students lessons in 可持续性 within 他们目前的课程结构. The courses are geared toward all interested TCC students, whether they intend to specialize in 可持续性 upon transfer or wish to deepen their understanding of this important topic while studying other subjects.
- College-level knowledge about 可持续性: Offers TCC students the opportunity to complete college-level course work related to 可持续性 without having to 攻读另一个学位.
- Promotion of responsible citizenship and the pursuit of environmental 可持续性: The program challenges individuals to think critically about topics such as climate change, sustainable agriculture, pollution, and energy use. 课程包含分析 of how personal choices affect the long-term viability of our current systems.
- Interdisciplinary knowledge: Provides a solid, interdisciplinary foundation for understanding 可持续性.
- Contribution to better environmental literacy: Students are challenged to understand, evaluate, and communicate the complexity of environmental problems.
- Compatibility with technical/professional and transfer degree programs: The 可持续性 Distinction Pathway can be completed while doing full-time studies in another field. It is particularly recommended for students pursuing degrees in environmental science, environmental studies, economics, and education.
- An entry into an associate degree: Credits earned during the completion of 的区别 pathway may be applied toward an associate degree.
- Enrichment for non-matriculated students: Individuals can earn the 可持续性 distinction even if they are not seeking a degree at TCC.
The 可持续性 Distinction Pathway offers courses selected from a variety of disciplines on topics related to sustainable resource use. The 可持续性 curriculum is mostly intended for college transfer students who want to understand 可持续性 issues and is also available to community members and professional-technical students who are interested in 可持续性 topics.
学生 successfully complete 20 credits of coursework in 可持续性 may apply to receive 的区别, which is noted on their transcripts. 课程 used to satisfy the requirements of the 可持续性 Distinction Pathway simultaneously apply to other distinction pathways or degree requirements satisfied by these courses, allowing students to select courses that support their educational and personal goals. 看到课程表课程可用性.
Students must complete 20 credits of course work from the courses below to receive 的区别. At least five credits must be from the Tier 1 course list. 剩下的 fifteen credits can be from the Tier 2 list.
